Smart Start MASTERS Update

Adapting to Change Smart Start MASTERS Goes Virtual
Smart Start MASTERS is a program funded by Alliance for Children in partnership with Thompson. Smart Start MASTERS provides resources to childcare facilities, including technical assistance, in-depth training, and professional workshops.
Many Early Childhood professionals have become accustomed to attending face to face trainings. However, with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines in place this option is currently not available and since it is uncertain how long we can expect these measures to continue the SS MASTERS program decided to roll out an online training resource for providers to address this need.
The Virtual Professional Development Series are live online trainings offered by an Early Childhood Program Quality Specialist with topics geared towards specific learning areas and recent trends related to the Early Childhood profession. These trainings are offered free of charge to Union County providers to assist them with staying on top of their professional development needs. Registration is required via email; in-service training hours will be awarded, and certificates will be provided upon completion of training. Between the months of March and June there were approximately 7 trainings offered for both administrators and teachers. The trainings were designed for both community participation and individualized site needs. Topics ranged from the implementation of various curriculum components to understanding the effects of stress on both children and adults. As we continue to navigate through the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and continue to follow best practices for community gatherings. The MASTERS program has tentatively planned 5 virtual trainings for the remainder of 2020 to do its part to slow the spread of the Coronavirus. If you are interested in receiving information on these upcoming training opportunities please feel free to contact me at Rwashington@Thompsoncff.org to be added to the program email list for all updates.
